Model 246A
EMI DETECTOR
The Model 246A is a highly sensitive broadband pulse detector engineered for pinpointing electromagnetic interference in power plant environments. Optimized for use on large motors, generators, PT cabinets, and ISO phase bus systems, it enables field personnel to quickly detect and locate EMI caused by arcing shaft bearings, sparking ground brushes, and deteriorating connections or insulators.
Operators can select between H-field and E-field detection modes, with support for four distinct frequency bands: VLF, LF, HF, and UHF. An AC line synchronous indicator helps correlate EMI with power line cycles, improving diagnostic accuracy. The unit includes both E-field and H-field antennas, along with an integrated speaker and headphone jack for flexible monitoring options.
Designed for field use, the 246A enables technicians to compare EMI levels across machines or monitor trends over time—making it a powerful diagnostic tool for early detection and proactive maintenance. The 246A is a powerful tool for identifying problem areas before they result in costly failures.
