A Legacy of Precision

Trusted by utilities for over 70 years

Since 1949, Radar Engineers has designed and built dependable instruments for locating RFI, ultrasonic, EMI, and underground faults in critical infrastructure and complex technical environments. Our equipment is trusted by professionals in electrical utilities, industrial facilities, renewable energy, cable systems, and radio communications where accuracy and reliability matter most.

Engineered for precision and long service life, our instruments are built to perform in demanding field conditions year after year. Reliability is not a claim, it is the standard behind every product we deliver.

In partnership with The VON Corporation, we continue to advance underground fault location technology. Together, we develop durable, efficient solutions trusted by the teams responsible for maintaining critical infrastructure.

Founded in 1958 by C.F. Von Herrmann, The VON Corporation has established itself as a global leader in underground cable fault locating and high-voltage testing. Initially recognized for introducing the world’s first one-person-portable, air-insulated, 100kV DC test set, the company has built a reputation for reliability, innovation, and ease of use in its equipment. Family-owned and based in Birmingham, Alabama, VON serves a worldwide customer base, focusing on providing specialized equipment for underground cable fault locating, high-voltage testing, rubber protective goods testing, and aerial device boom current monitoring.

Throughout its history, VON has continued to innovate and adapt to the evolving needs of the electric utility market. Starting with the revolutionary C Series high-voltage DC test equipment, the company expanded its product line to include the BI-.35 cable fault locator in the 1970s and the popular XF Series Arc Reflection Systems in the 1990s. The company’s commitment to improving equipment and processes is exemplified by its 2006 overhaul of the rubber goods testing system, integrating microprocessor control. VON’s legacy of innovation and customer service has cemented its position as a trusted name in the industry, constantly pushing forward to meet the demands of its market.

Hard-working equipment for hard-working people.

OUR CORE PRINCIPLES

At Radar Engineers, our principles guide how we design, build, and operate. They reflect a commitment to precision, durability, and accountability. These values shape every instrument we produce and every relationship we maintain.

Precision

We design with intent and clarity. Every instrument, circuit, and interface exists to deliver accuracy in the field and perform exactly as expected.

Reliability

Our work supports the infrastructure that powers modern life. Dependability is built into every design, tested and proven to perform for decades in real-world conditions.

Integrity

We take responsibility for what we create and how we create it. Transparency, honesty, and technical rigor guide our process from design through delivery.

Progress

We evolve with purpose, refining our methods and modernizing our tools to expand what is possible in fault location and interference detection technology.

Meet the Radar Team

We design, build, and support the instruments professionals rely on to locate interference and underground faults in critical infrastructure. Our team brings together field experience with modern hardware and software engineering to deliver tools that are precise, reliable, and built for demanding environments.
From product design and manufacturing to customer support and field troubleshooting, we own outcomes end to end. The result is practical solutions that allow operators to work with confidence.
